Coming to an End (2)

"Tch, weren't you the same when you were a kid?" Grandpa Sun retorted as he rolled his eyes at Zhai Yunsheng.0

It was obvious he preferred Little Zeze over Zhai Yunsheng.

"So, what did you come here for?" Grandpa Sun asked Jian Yiling. He knew that Jian Yiling wasn't someone who'd randomly tell a lie. Therefore, she was definitely here for some certain reason.

Jian Yiling took out the piece of vellum and handed it to Grandpa Sun.

As Grandpa Sun had no free hands to take the piece of vellum, he ordered Zhai Yunsheng to open it for him.

Zhai Yunsheng obeyed Grandpa Sun's command and unfolded the piece of vellum.

As soon as he saw the contents of the piece of vellum, the expression on Grandpa Sun's face changed

"How could there be such a thing?" Grandpa Sun commented with a frown on his face.

"It was passed down from my grandma's ancestors," Jian Yiling explained.

"Who is your grandma?"

This time, Zhai Yunsheng answered the question: "She's from the Xie family. The Xie family that was part of the Nine Dragons Association."

"The Xie family that was famous in the past and the ones who held a pivotal position in our world?" Grandpa Sun asked. Despite spending many years in a remote mountain village, Grandpa Sun somehow knew about these things.

"Yes," Zhai Yunsheng replied.

When he received this response, Grandpa Sun began to think about something.

After a long while, Grandpa Sun sighed and said: "So the disappearance of the Xie family back then was also related to this matter."

"Perhaps. But there's no way of confirming this," Zhai Yunsheng answered.

After another pause, Grandpa Sun asked: "So how did you know this matter is related to me?"

This time, Jian Yiling was the one who answered. "Because I came from there."

"You…" Grandpa Sun started in surprise before his voice trailed off. His eyes stared at Jian Yiling for a long time.

After making up his mind, Grandpa Sun said: "I never encountered such a thing before. You're a person of good fortune!"

Jian Yiling did not deny this statement.

After all, she was really happy with the state of her life right now. She was content to have A Sheng by her side and she was content to have her family with her as well.

Then, Grandpa Sun said to Jian Yiling: "It's been half a century since the Xie family disappeared. Even if nothing happened to them, they're probably all dead by now. Therefore, it's not very realistic for you to go and find them."

"I know. My grandma didn't want me to look for them either," Jian Yiling replied.

"Then what did you come here for?" Grandpa Sun asked.

"There are many people who mistakenly believe that this piece of vellum records a treasure, I don't want to encounter any trouble in the future. Therefore, I think my best course of action is to hand this piece of vellum to you."

At first, Grandpa Sun was surprised to hear this. Then, he smiled and said: "Good girl. You're indeed a good child. Most people would want the things hidden away by this piece of vellum. However, you chose to give up on them without any hesitation."

Jian Yiling explained: "Controlling our world is illusory and meaningless. Compared to that, I much prefer my current life."

"That's right. You're not wrong," Grandpa Sun said in a pleased tone. "Hand me the piece of vellum then. It will go where it belongs."

Then, Grandpa Sun ordered Zhai Yunsheng: "Brat, stuff that piece of vellum into my pocket."

As both of his hands were holding Little Zeze, he couldn't take the piece of vellum from Zhai Yunsheng's hands.

After Zhai Yunsheng finished stuffing the piece of vellum into his pockets, Grandpa Sun invited Jian Yiling to sit inside his thatched hut.

"Aren't we not allowed to go in?" Jian Yiling asked quietly.

Previously, whenever anyone approached his thatched hut, Grandpa Sun would curse and chase them away with a broom.
