As Qie Wang stepped into the hospital ward, he saw Xie Xuning and Li Qingcang. To his astonishment, the former's legs were intact. "Xuning, your legs look fine. Why is everyone saying that you lost your leg?"1

Xie Xuning and Li Qingcang exchanged a knowing look. They did not expect word to travel so fast.

"How did you know about that?"

Qie Wang gave them a strange look. "She called me to ask me about it."

Xie Xuning asked, "What did you tell them?"

Qie Wang placed his hand on his chest. He declared truthfully, "Of course I told her your leg was amputated, but what's wrong with you guys? Now I have to lie for you guys."

Xie Xuning asked him solemnly, "Qie Wang, are you my brother?"

Qie Wang was indignant. "How can you ask me such a question? Haven't I always treated you like a brother?"

"If you are my brother, please keep this a secret from now on. You must not tell anyone, no matter who that person is."

Qie Wang sensed that something was wrong and got worried. He tried to probe further. "Xuning, this doesn't sound right. Is something bothering you? You can tell me. I will definitely try my best to help you."

"Just help me to keep this secret. Don't tell anyone about my condition, especially your little sister, Zhiwei." He was, of course, referring to Li Zhiwei.

Qie Wang got defensive and quickly explained, "Firstly, Li Zhiwei is not my blood sister, nor is she my partner. There is nothing between us. "Of course you can trust me. I will watch my words when talking to other people. Your secret is safe with me." As Qie Wang left the room, he left specific instructions to the doctors and nurses on duty. They were trained to work at the VIP wards in the hospital, so they could maintain confidentiality with the patients. They would have signed a nondisclosure agreement with the hospital.

Just as Qie Wang returned to his office, Li Zhiwei walked in soon after with a bouquet of beautiful flowers.

She looked demure and calm. The upcoming wedding must have put her in a cheerful mood.

"Qie Wang."

Qie Wang was surprised to see her. "Zhiwei, why are you here?"

"I bought these for Xuning, but I don't think he's in the mood to see any visitors right now, so I won't go and see him. Can you bring the flowers to him later? Hopefully, these flowers will cheer him up."

Qie Wang looked at the flowers and instinctively thought of something. "Zhiwei, did you come alone? Does Li Bai know you are coming?

Li Zhiwei laughed. "Li Bai? Yes, he knows."
