Di Shanshi told his mother about his plans when he and Mayor Di returned home. Mrs. Di strongly objected to Di Shanshi's decision.

"No way," his mother disagreed. "Shi, you know how much your father and I have invested in your education. And now you're telling me that you don't want to go to college? Have you forgotten? You only just told your father and I last month that your goal is Capital University."
