The First Truth of the Barren Dimension
Luca shook his head. "I have some first aid, but not knowing what sort of poison is this, it might kill him instead. Caelian, anything?" 2
Caelian shook his head and said, "Poisons don't really work on me, so I didn't bring any antidotes."
Caelian was near-immune when it came to poisons, while Wolfe and Cyrus could smell it if they were dealing with people who had poisons on them. Even Luca, with his wind power, would be able to tell if something was poisonous just from the scent itself.
The weakest one among them would be Juin, who did not have the animal instincts, built-in immune system, nor the ability to detect the differences in the scents brought by the wind.
"How about something to stop the blood flow?" Wolfe asked, his voice panicking slightly to reasons that were unknown to him.
Luca thought for a while before taking out a pill from his Dimensional Pouch. "My master gave me this. It's mostly for physical wounds, but I think it should be able to stop blood flow and prevent infection."
Wolfe took the pill from Luca, but he did not give it to Juin straight. Honestly, he had trouble trusting Luca.
"It's… ok…" Juin mumbled as he grabbed Wolfe's thigh. "Give… me…"
Everyone looked at him in surprise. Luca was even more so surprised that Juin would trust him.
Wolfe looked at it for a few seconds before saying, "What the heck… We have nothing else anyway…"
He then forced the pill down Juin's mouth. Juin's body spasmed for a few seconds as the pill took effect. However, not long after, Juin's blood flow started to slow down. While it did not stop, at least now they had some time to think of the next move.
"Cy… Cyrus…" Juin said after a while and looked at Cyrus. "Away… Get away…"
Cyrus frowned, not knowing what he was trying to say.
"Let's leave for a while. He probably has something he wants to talk to Cyrus about," Luca said. He then stood up and walked away.
Caelian shrugged and walked behind him.
"Go… Wolfe…" Juin murmured weakly as he looked at Wolfe. "I'll… I'll be fine… Watch… them."
Wolfe blinked for a few seconds before nodding. He then ran in the direction of Luca and Caelian.
After they were gone, Juin asked Cyrus to help him sit up. Even though it hurt to move, he still made Cyrus help him.
"Are you afraid that Luca might have poisoned you?" Cyrus asked in a low voice.
"It doesn't matter…" Juin mumbled weakly. When he was up, he put his hands together and pulled out a coal-like ball that emitted both heat and cold.
Devil's Charm.
The black flames soon appeared, turning the coal into a black burning sun. He was about to activate it when he realized that Little Goddess didn't tell him how. "Err…"
"Maybe try your Soul Power?" Cyrus suggested as he looked at "flaming coal".
Despite the exhaustion he felt, Juin tried to use his Soul Power, but there was no effect. He then thought for a while before giving the Devil's Charm to Cyrus. "Try to put it against my wound."
Cyrus immediately did as he was told. He took the "coal" from Juin. The moment he took it, the flames disappeared, and it turned back into a "coal". The "coal" felt normal in his hand, but when he gently placed it against one of Juin's wounds, the black flames appeared again.
He watched as the flames were absorbed by Juin's wound.
"Ah, because you used your blood to bond with it, is that why it requires your blood to work?" Cyrus wondered out loud.
"Urgh…" Juin groaned in pain, but he soon felt relief as the coldness from the Devil's Charm numbed his pain slightly. Soon, he felt a lot better and the constant searing pain that he had been experiencing was slowly subsiding until he could no longer feel them.
"Hey, your blood's red again…" Cyrus said in astonishment before moving the Devil's Charm to the other wounds. "How are you feeling now?" he asked after he had completely cleansed the wounds of poison.
"Weak, but so much better…" Juin said. When he was slashed by the chimera earlier, he felt his soul power leaking out of him rapidly, so he was not joking when he said he was weak. Instead, it was an understatement.
To regain his full strength, he had to swallow three Soul Rejuvenation Pills.
"Your wounds are closing up…" Cyrus remarked as he passed the Devil's Charm back to Juin. "Did that charm have healing ability as well?"
"Little Goddess didn't say so… I think that's just my body's natural healing ability, and the pill that Luca gave me earlier," Juin said as he looked at the Devil's Charm in his hand. "This thing is definitely a treasure that we need to keep a secret from others."
He then placed it back in his Dimensional Pouch and lay back on the ground. "If anyone asked, just say that I have an experimental life-saving pill from Tucker…"
"But that wouldn't explain why you sent them away," Cyrus pointed out.
Juin nodded, having thought of this. "Tell them that Tucker's pill tends to have bad side effects and that I didn't want to be seen by anyone in case something disgusting was to happen."
He then lay back down on the ground and mumbled, "I have to rest a bit… Wake me up in an hour's time."
Before Cyrus could say anything, he had already fallen asleep.
…
In his Soul Dimension, Juin was actually training with Lucifer while discussing what they saw earlier.
"Yeah, I saw them too…" Lucifer said as he dodged Juin's attack. "Too slow, by the way…"
Juin continued to throw his flame-covered fists at Lucifer as he said, "What if… What if I'm correct? I… I killed…"
The flames on his fists disappeared as a complicated expression appeared on his face.
BAM!
Juin received a punch on his chest and was slammed into the ground.
"You need to practice how to think while fighting…" Lucifer said as he pulled his fist away from Juin. "This is a disgrace! How long have I been training you? How can you still get distracted like that?"
Juin lay on the white floor while holding his chest. The pain was not as unbearable as before, mostly because he was training in his soul form instead of his physical form, but the main reason was that his mind was terribly distracted.
"I'm sorry, but…"
"Think of it this way, even if our deduction is true, they weren't the same humans like you. They were humans of this world."
Juin frowned as he looked up at the white sky in the Soul Dimension. "They were living beings regardless… Living beings that looked like me."
He thought of what he saw earlier. Those shadows that appeared out of the dead chimeras were human souls. He was sure of that, and Lucifer confirmed it for him as well. Juin looked at his hands.
"I've been… tainted."
For a split second, he thought he saw bright red blood on his hand, and he had to shake his head a couple of times to get rid of the thought.
