Denial

Mai Yuerui felt as if see saw a ghost.

"Oh! Hi! Good... morning!" She awkwardly greeted him.

Somehow it seemed Kong Xianwang was more awkward than her. He was about to open his mouth to say something but only said "Hmm... Morning!" In reply and returned to the stove.

Mai Yuerui rubbed her neck in confusion as she could not make any words to say nor did Kong Xianwang said anything to her.

She thought he would not miss this chance to tease her. But his vibe seemed a little off.

She could not figure out if there was anything wrong.

To get rid of this awkwardness she decided to be the one to talk.

She dashed towards the kitchen and leaned on the door as she saw her husband make pancakes.

"So... You didn't go to office today?" She asked.

"No." He replied shortly while giving all his attention to the pancakes.

"Oh!"

A moment of silence passed.

She again asked, "Umm.. did you bring me home yesterday?"

"Yes." Again a short reply.

'It seems Ning Tan was right. She indeed can't remember anything.' Kong Xianwang thought as he felt both relaxed and disappointed at the same time.

Mai Yuerui went close to him and said hasitantly, "I am sorry. I drank a little yesterday."

"Yes you did." Kong Xianwang replied while flipping the cakes on the pan. He didn't say anything else.

Mai Yuerui was a bit surprised by his behavior.

She behaved improperly on their engagement and he was not questioning her.

"Aren't you gonna ask why did I drink so much?"

"It was a party. And people drink in party. What's there to ask about?" He replied without giving any look to her.

Mai Yuerui wanted to come clean about the incident with Han Yefang. Even if Kong Xianwang would never know about this if she doesn't tell him. But she doesn't want to hide anything from him. She wants to have honesty in this relationship even if it's only on papers.

Seeing that he was not showing any interest on her drinking incident she decided to come clean on her own.

She gathered her courage as she spoke, "Actually yesterday...."

"Can you pour some coffee for me, it's on the other side." Kong Xianwang interrupted her.

"Uh... Sure." Mai Yuerui turned to get the coffee but before she get to talk to him Kong Xianwang already left the kitchen.

He went to the dining room with the breakfast and Mai Yuerui followed him behind.

As Kong Xianwang was placing the food Mai Yuerui again tried to have a talk.

"I have something to tell you."

"Say!"

"Yesterday I had a...." Yuerui could not make up any words to say. As she took time to say her words Kong Xianwang somehow became impatient.

'Thush!'

As his concentration was on her he accidentally dropped a plate on the ground.

Mai Yuerui flinched with the sudden loud noise.

"I am sorry. I snapped out for a moment. Don't move. I will clean this up now." Kong Xianwang rushed to the kitchen to get a broom.

'He seems off today. May be I should not say this now. He is already tensed with office. I should say this to him when he is in good mood.' Mai Yuerui thought to herself.

When Kong Xianwang came to clean, Mai Yuerui also went to help him.

While they were cleaning Kong Xianwang asked, "You were saying something."

"Huh! Oh I was saying... Ah! I had a headache. Do you have any medicine I can take?" She faked a smile.

"I'll get it for you after cleaning this mess." Kong Xianwang felt a little disappointed.

She is not obligated to tell him. But he wished she would tell him if Han Yefang did anything wrong to her.

As he became absent minded, he accidentally got his finger cut with a piece of glass.

"Ah!" He hissed in pain.

"Did you cut yourself?" Mai Yuerui got worried. When she saw his finger bleeding, out of reflex she immediately put the finger on her mouth and sucked.

Kong Xianwang was taken aback by her action but when he came back to his senses he quickly retreated his hand.

"It's okay. It's just a small cut." He said without looking at her as he hurriedly picked up the pieces and rushed out.

Mai Yuerui was a little surprised by his action. Normally he would crack jokes on her in this type of situation. But today he completely ignored her.

But in her confusion, one thing got her eyes.

A bright bite mark on Kong Xianwang's neck.

As Kong Xianwang hurriedly left Mai Yuerui was still staring at the mark.

It seemed strange at the same time familiar to her. She tried to remember about it as she saw Kong Xianwang rush upstairs.

"Where did I see this mark?" She murmured to herself.

She scratched her head as she tried to remember.

After a few couple of minutes....

"Oh my God!"

Mai Yueruin loose the strength on her feet as she grabbed the chair to support as soon as she remembered how he got the mark.

In a few minutes her embarrassing actions came back as her memory.

How she acted like a child and after that she literally molested her husband!

Not only that.... SHE KISSED HIM?

She doesn't know what happened after that. She just knows she kissed him. After that she doesn't remember anything.

"Oh my goodness! What have you done!"2

"That poor soul! I molested him."

"He must be feeling scared of me."

"That's why he is behaving like this."

"I should apologize to him!"

"What have you done, Mai Yuerui!" She literally pulled her hair as she released her anxiety.

Suddenly it seemed another grave sin had been committed by her.

"My kiss!"

"My first kiss!"

"My first kiss got wasted!!!! Ahhhh!!!!"

It took a while for Kong Xianwang to come downstairs. On the mean time Mai Yuerui tried her best to compose herself.

She decided to apologise to him as soon as he comes.

She placed the food properly and waited for him.

She was a bit surprised when she saw him coming in formal attire.

'Didn't he say he will not go to office today?' she thought.

"Here's your medicine. It will help you with the hangover." Kong Xianwang handed her the medicine as soon as he came.

"Umm... Thanks. But didn't you say you are not going to the office today?" She asked curiously.

"I have a meeting outside office."

"Oh! Have breakfast before you leave."

"Hmm..."

For a few minutes no one talked. Only the sound not utensils could be heard.

After some time Mai Yuerui took the courage to ask,"Well, did something happen yesterday?"

Kong Xianwang stopped for a second before replying, "What do you mean?"

"I mean, I got drunk, right? So I was wondering if I did anything stupid." She asked cautiously.

"No, you didn't." Kong Xianwang replied before putting a piece of cake into his mouth.

The mark on his neck could be seen slightly from the collar but as soon as Mai Yuerui asked about yesterday Kong Xianwang immediately adjusted his collar and hid the mark.

"Are you sure? I heard that I become a mess after drinking." She still tried to pitch her words.

"You just slept all night. Nothing else." He replied nonchalantly.

Mai Yuerui found it weird. Why was he denying that she did attack him yesterday.

She still didn't lose hope and said straight, "Hey! What's that mark on your neck?"

Kong Xianwang instantly hid his neck with his palm and replied, "I cut myself while shaving."

"Oh. Let me get an ointmemt for that."

"No, that's okay. I already didn't." Kong Xianwang quickly got up from the table.

"I am leaving." He added.

"But you didn't finish the breakfast!"

"I am full." He replied hurriedly before leaving the house.

A confused Mai Yuerui was left behind staring at the way Kong Xianwang left.
