Compensation
Mo Xie left the Mo Peak after giving the two basic training scrolls to the remaining disciples before departing again.
After taking the elder's token and distributing the promised rewards, he made his way back to the Tu Clan.
Shang Ting decided to stay at home, but for some reason, she had forced Tanya to tag along with him. Knowing the lady since his rebirth, Mo Xie knew something was up, but didn't really force the issue and just went along with her.
As he made his way to the Tu Clan, this time, he just took his time and rode a carriage over while writing some things in a scroll
Tanya sat beside him obediently as she occasionally glanced sideways, looking at what he's doing.
After her 30th time glancing at his work, Mo Xie sighed and smiled: "Are you curious about it?"
Tanya nodded her head: "Yes."
"You could've asked." Mo Xie couldn't help but chuckle due to Tanya's expressionless face.
Tanya looked at him before looking back at the scroll: "I'm afraid I'll ruin your concentration if I did that."
Mo Xie smiled wryly before replying: "No, I'm really far from getting my concentration distracted by something like that."
'Well, you occasionally glancing at it does the work...'
Tanya then asked: "Those... repairing art?"
Mo Xie looked at his scroll and nodded his head: "Yes, they are for the Tu Clan..."
"Are you knowledgeable about that?"
Tanya shook her head: "No, but the monarchs, even my father had been trying to learn how to repair our arts, I've seen similar inscriptions to what you're doing from one of their works."
Mo Xie nodded his head: "Well, since I've handed you the complete version, I think that solved your tribe's problem, right?"
Tanya nodded her head: "Un!" She looked at the sky outside the carriage and sighed: "If it had arrived a hundred years earlier, both my mother and father wouldn't have to die."
As her words descended, an awkward silence ensued.
But after a while, Mo Xie spoke: "Everyone passes on, it just depends on the time they will depart."
Tanya smiled but didn't reply for a while before asking: "Do you believe in fate? Destiny?"
Mo Xie looked at her before smiling: "No, truth be told, it's one of the things I grimly despise."
Tanya tilts her head then asked: "Why?
"Why?" Mo Xie pondered for 0.00001 seconds before replying: "Because it's my way, not believe in such things."
He then returned her question: "You believe it?"
Tanya nodded her head: "It's the most plausible thing I believe."
"Why?" Mo Xie asked: "I think it's impossible to know."
Tanya smiled: "Fate... isn't it the destiny that's been given? The thing they are bound to take?"
Mo Xie replied calmly: "Then, change it."
Tanya sighed: "I think fate is the strongest power there is, to control it is such a power that no one can fight against."
Mo Xie frowned: "Fighting one's destiny is a path itself."
Tanya looked at him calmly and replied: "What if it's your destiny to say those words? What if it's your fate to not believe in fate."
"What if it's my fate to say these things..."
"And what if it's fate that whatever we've done had been written since our birth?"
"What if it's destiny that I believe in it and you don't?"
Mo Xie suddenly felt helpless, if there is really such a power such as fate, how would one contend against it?
'It's your fate that you die now by committing suicide!' Just that thought of it sent him shivers, if what Tanya had said isn't just mere 'what ifs', then...
"Fate... the strongest power... huh..." He uttered in a low tone, pondering it for a while longer before the two of them remained silent.
Meanwhile, the two of them arrived at the Tu Clan's territory.
"RUN! The berserker had returned!" One of the Tu Clan's retainers uttered with a voice filled with fear.
Mo Xie looked and saw a familiar face, it's Xin Ya, one of the disciples that became an inner court elder from the sect.
"The heck, why are you all being like this, I'm just here to accept a mission!" Xin Ya protested with a frown as her two hands placed on her waist.
With a bit of grunt, Xin Ya made her way to the Tu Clan's Elder Pavilion, it's the place where the mission can be accepted.
Mo Xie and Tanya tried to ignore it, but just for curiosity, Mo Xie asked an elder: "What's it about the berserker?"
Of course, this elder is one from the Tu Clan, he chuckled wryly before replying: "Well, she's quite a handful when she was the sect's inner court disciple, she had challenged many of the Tu Clan's disciple in a fight, well, most of them are elders now."
"But whenever she suffered a loss, she would usually go berserk and destroy a few houses, even fighting some of the elders."
"...." Mo Xie and Tanya became speechless.
"Well, thanks to her, we made a lot of our old buildings new with the sect's and her family's fundings." The elder smiled before making his way out.
Mo Xie looked at Xin Ya's back before heading to the Tu Clan's grand hall.
Tanya couldn't help but chuckle: "What, looking for a third wife already?"
Mo Xie chuckle as he uttered: "No."
Tanya smirked: "Know that big sis is fine with it, but I am not, especially if it's a person I do not know."
Of course, the big sis she was referring to was none other than Shang Ting, going with who the first wife was.
Mo Xie rolled his eyes: "I'm not that loose."
After he spoke, he made his way inside the Tu Clan's grand hall together with Tanya.
As expected though, Xuanfeng and Qianfei are already both there.
"You've come." Xuanfeng spoke to Mo Xie, then glanced beside him: "And this is..."
"My second wife, Tanya." Mo Xie replied immediately.
Xuanfeng pondered for a bit before he smiled: "It's great to have your acquaintance."
Tanya with her usual cold poker face nodded her head: "Yes."
'Yes...' Xuanfeng felt tongue-tied with her reply but could only smile wryly before returning his gaze back to Mo Xie: "We've completely gathered all of the things you wanted."
Mo Xie nodded his head: "We should start then."1
Xuanfeng was about to nod his head, but Qianfei poked his side with her elbow, he remembered something and asked: "Right, friend, what will you use it for? Will you be concocting a medicine?"
Of course, with Mo Xie's keen perception, he noticed Qianfei but decided to ignore it: "I'm planning to create some pills, it's quite beneficial to one's cultivation."
Xuanfeng nodded his head with an 'Ohh', but of course, he didn't understand it as all those herbs were quite ordinary as well.
"Would it be bothersome to have a few of our alchemists learn a thing or two from watching you?"
He didn't even ponder about it and nodded his head, he then took something out from his storage ring and handed it to Xuanfeng: "Right, I made something."
He threw it at the man and immediately, Mo Xie started to walk: "Then, should we start?"
Xuanfeng and Qianfei both were quite speechless, after all, they expected Mo Xie to keep his concoction or even formula as a secret, yet, he's allowing other alchemists to look at it? Not only that, he even handed something? For some reason, the two of them couldn't get their heads around it.
Mo Xie smiled: "Don't look at me like that..."
"All of it is for your Tu Clan after all, consider it... my compensation." As he spoke, he smirked at the two of them.
