A Little Goodbye

  Janella was nibbling her fingers as she remembered those eyes that are akin to Hannah Grace. That baby was what they were looking for. If they have her, they will be able to raise them to become a great killing machines. Not only that. They can use those children to be a hostage so they will be able to get all of the gems. 

"If you are thinking—like capturing Hannah Grace's child or Victor's child, I think you should think twice. I made a truce with them." Kennedy spoke as it took Janella's attention. "I don't want to risk my family, my child, because of your family's obsession." 

  Janella rolled her eyes as she looked away. 

"Janella, no," Danica said. "Do not involve any minors again. I am begging you as a family. Whatever grandpa wants you to do~~please. Do not trigger those killing machines." 

"They have empathy as well." Kennedy made it clear to Janella. "You knew well what Hannah Grace can do even though she let us use her body for a short time. In a snap, if it involves her daughter, she will go berserk." 

"Fine." Janella rolled her eyes. "What if they have the gems?" She asked them. 

"The Dragon won't be stupid enough to give the gems to the Rossie. They knew that we are rivals to the Empire. Placing it on the Rossie would be too risky for the Dragon." 

  Janella somehow considered it. It was what her grandfather said as well. Now, even from Kennedy's view, he said the same. 

"Right," She mumbled. She still couldn't get it out of her head. 

"So, how long are the Dragon friends with Rossie?" Danica asked as she sliced her steak

"They aren't friends. I assume. I don't think that the Rossie would merge into the Dragon Empire." Kennedy said. "They are, after all, different. Besides, the Dragon Empire holds a lot of dignity. They won't merge with any other Empires unless it was a dead one." He mumbled. From his research, he learned that the Dragon Empire was close to the Phoenix. They are both different Empires but they merge years ago until all of the Phoenix members were massacred. No one survived. That's what he knows. But if there's a chance that there's a Phoenix Empire, the Dragon might have given the fire gem to them. They are the true holders of the Fire element. 

"I will be leaving." Janella stood as she left. Danica continued eating, ignoring whatever Janella wanted to do. 

  After she finished her steak, she put the fork and knife down and wiped her lips. 

"So, what would happen if Janella took the heirs from the Rossie Empire?" 

  Kennedy stared at her and glanced at her stomach. 

"You and our child might be dead by now." 

  Somehow, it sent shivers to Danica. She placed her hand on her tummy unconsciously. She doesn't want to. She's a mother now. She will be protective. 

"You will understand motherhood after you give birth. So, my wife. I want you to speak out to your cousin or else, each of you will die one by one. Hannah Grace's threats weren't lies. She will lose her mind as she kills anyone in front of her. That includes your nieces and nephews." 

"Children. Th-They are young and innocent." Danica now understands. How can she be stupid not to understand it enough? They were carefree. 

"My grandfather murdered Karmina's siblings and family. But she only took Wendy, the one who hurt her daughter. That's motherhood. They are willing to kill whoever hurt their child and I would do the same." 

  Danice felt tight knots in her stomach. She just hoped that she didn't ask those things. It made her realize that she was stupid and dumb for not knowing those simple things after what her family had done. She wasn't a good person at all and so is her family.

  Kal became more curious as he watched them put the suitcase downstairs while Maxine was carrying Levi. He followed around while holding Maxine's dress. He looked up at Maxine as they stayed in the foyer. 

"L-eving?" He asked her. 

"Yes, my love." Maxine squatted. "We will have to move away." 

"No." Kal pouted as he shook his head. 

"I'm sorry that it was too soon." 

  Kal reached Levina. He scooped her from her mother and held her tightly although the baby was heavy. 

"Vivi, stay." He said. 

"Kal, I'm sorry." Maxine strokes Kal's hair. 

  Levina cooed as she moved her face away from Kal and tried to push him. 

"Kal, we need to go," Terrence said. 

"No!" He shouted as he stepped back but fell on his butt. Victor quickly held Kal's back before he hit the floor. Maxine carefully took her daughter from Kal as the little boy started crying. "Vivi!" 

  Quinn and Dione watched as Kal cried and threw tantrums as Maxine and Levina said goodbye. Even Victor felt bad for his little boy who has been there for Levina ever since she was in her mother's stomach. 

"We will visit her." Victor squatted as he held Kal. He picks her up and they follow them outside as Kal continues crying. 

"Dadi~~no leave~~Vivi." He shook his head and raised his forefinger and shook it to Terrence. "Papa~~no, no…" 

  Terence approached him and patted his head. 

"We will be right back. Okay? Just a few months. You can visit." 

  Kal cried more and hugged Victor's neck. 

"Say goodbye," Maxine told Levina who looked at Kal and waved her hand. Then, she gets to her business by sucking on her teether. Maxine put her on the baby carrier as Kal screamed and wanted to run to Maxine but Victor held him tight so he wouldn't delay them. "We will be back," Maxine told him. 

"Say goodbye now," Victor told him softly. 

"Papa, Mama." Kal wiped her tears. 

"They will be back." 

"We will be back. Promise." Maxine told him as she waved.

  Keira watched as Kal snuggled to his father an hour after Maxine, Terrence, and Levina left. It was so sad since he was close to them. They were his second parents. One thing she noticed is Quinn. She would come to Kal every five minutes and offer her toys. Kal didn't take it and just closed his eyes. He also doesn't have an appetite to eat. He used to be so excited. 

"That was something," Keira mumbled while she was holding Callisa. 

  Then, now Quinn climbed to Victor's lap and reached Kal's face as she tried to open Kal's eyes. 

"Ka-Kal!" She screamed. 

"No!" Kal shouted back at her. Quinn pouted in a perfect downward curve as she looked up at Victor like she was going to cry. "Ki-Kin. No. No." Kal lowered his voice. Quinn intently dropped her head back together with her body but Victor held her before she fell. "Sowee, Kin-kin." 

"Adorable," Keira mumbled as she kissed Calli's head. "Bunch of dramatic babies, right Calli?"

"Alright, pips. Dinner is ready." Alessandro called out. Kal wasn't excited as before. He only snuggled with her father. 

"Kal?" Alessandro called. "Don't you want to eat?" 

"Ka-Kal, no~no… foodie," Quinn said as she cried. 

"Okay," Sandro approached them. Quinn raised her arms as he picked her up. "Eat when he's ready," Sandro mumbled to Victor who nodded his head. 

  Sandro looked at Quinn who wiped her tears and pointed to Kal. 

"He's sad, please understand, little Quinn." He kissed her temple. "Dione, come." 

  Dione walked to Sandro and held his hand. They walked to the dining hall as he put Quinn first to her high chair. Next, he lifted Dione to her high chair. He sighed and looked at the empty chairs. 

"We will be there," MJ said as she helped the maids with a few plates. "I've never seen Kal so sad." 

"Me either." He sighed. 

"Babe, can you get me coconut juice? The fresh one." Johanna said as soon as she entered the dining hall. "Hello, baby." She bent down and kissed Quinn's cheeks.  1

"Mama, Ka-Kal. No~No food." Quinn said. 

"He will eat when he's hungry, darling." 

"Why do you need fresh coconut juice at night?" Connor suddenly asked her. 

"Because I want to." She glared at him. "Love, get it. Please." 

  Connor sighed as he thought for a while. He nodded his head. Good thing that they have fresh coconut trees on the estate. 

"I will get it." Then, he left. Alessandro looked at Johanna who looked cranky but she still prepared Quinn's food and checked on it. 

  Soon, others came up and settled down as they started discussing Johanna's wedding. Kal eats a little as Cole eats a lot while helping his baby sister eat. 

  Shortly, Connor arrived with fresh coconut. He opened it up and put it on a fancy pitcher. He served it to his fiancee and kissed her cheeks. 

"Thank you." She smiled at him. 

  Quinn pointed to the coconut juice. 

"Mama," 

  Suddenly, a woman shouted across the hall and entered the dining hall. 

"Hello!" Andromeda smiled. "Keira, we need to talk." 

  Keira sighed and shook her head. 

"Let's eat first." 

"Nope. I need your money right." Andromeda said. They all looked at Keira who stood. 

"Fine, I'll write you a check." 

  Puzzled, they all watched as Andromeda and Keira left the kitchen. 

"I need to talk to you about something." Andromeda sighed. "Those snakes are going too far." 

"What about the phoenix?" Keira asked. 

"Not yet." She shook her head.
